At-Home

I go to come home this morning. Things kicked back into gear last night and I was able to pass alot of gas and have a few bowel movements. It is such a strange feeling, but what a relief. No more catchin' farts, though!!! Oh well.

It is really nice to be home. I will slowly begin the adjustment to solid foods and my bowels. I made a comment to the doctor in the hospital about where all the food is that I was eating. He assured me that as soon as things start up again I am going to want them to slow down. So we will see.

I still have some pain in my incision sight, but it is getting better. The sutures will come out next Thursday when I return for a check-up.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!
Josh

Still waiting....

Well, Josh is eating solid foods again, so surely it can't be too long.... SURELY..... I mean, all that food has to be going somewhere, right?

Waiting to go...

Well, they kept Josh on clear liquids through noon today, then he finally got to eat some oatmeal. He's having more pain today from the incision since the local anesthestic wore off. And most importantly, he still hasn't pooed yet. So now it's looking like it will probably be Friday before he gets to go home. Oh well. But overall he's doing good, just ready to go (pun intended). :)

Surgery Went Great

Hey everyone, Kimberly here, Josh's surgery went fine this morning, as expected. The ostomy was reversed with no problem and there were no signs of cancer anywhere. Yes!!!!! Josh is chilling in his room and Jamie and I are spending the night at the house and will go back in the morning. He beat me at Scrabble today while he was on morphine. Ouch! Anyways, they started him on a clear liquid diet tonight so it's on to solid food tomorrow, then he'll probably go home Thursday. It'll be an adjustment period for him for awhile but what a relief it is!!! Take care everybody, I'll update soon.

Surgery Tomorrow

Having received my great news last Thursday made for such a relaxing weekend. I was surrounded by many family and friends when I traveled to Mobile for my cousin Lydia's high school graduation. The ceremony was long, but the celebration the next day was alot of fun. It seems as though my disdain for the video game Rock Band is perhaps misplaced.

I am not nearly as anxious about this surgery. We have to be there at 6:00 tomorrow morning and the entire process will be about 2 hours with the actual surgery being about 40 minutes. I will get Kimberly to post an update as soon as she can.

Thank you all for the continued support and I look forward to saying hello to everyone! Wish me luck tomorrow!

Josh
