Josh's sinus surgery went fine this morning. He had to be there at 5:00 so he was the first one and didn't have to wait too long with nothing to eat. It took about 20 minutes. They removed part of his septum which was blocking the opening to his maxillary sinus and keeping it from healing up from the surgery in October. Hopefully today was the last surgery he'll have to have for a long time (or ever)! Alot of the surgical staff know him now. "Oh hi, it's you again!" It's sad. He's doing pretty good now, it didn't bleed a whole lot and doesn't hurt as bad as last time and they didn't have to pack his nose with the "nose tampons." So hopefully soon he'll post about finishing up his dissertation proposal.
On another note, we've been participating in EFM (Education for Ministry) classes every Tuesday night at church. No, we're not becoming priests. It's a 4 year curriculum developed by Sewanee to equip lay people for ministry. The first year is spent studying Hebrew scripture. We also did spiritual autobiographies and will be doing theological reflections; it's more than just bible study, it's a group process as well. We have a great group and we've really enjoyed it so far. Josh is the only guy but he's used to that being a social worker. So far I've become totally confused about what sin is... I guess I just never spent that much time thinking about it before. :)
Peace,
Kimberly
