Christmas Time Catch-Up

Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse.

Lately I felt like I haven't had a chance to come up for air. I know it has been forever since I posted, but everything is going well for me. Of course moving closer to Christmas is difficult for Kimberly as she prepares for the first celebration without her mom. I say celebration, because that is what it is and will always remain. I remember my first Christmas without dad, and it was really tough. However, with time you begin to remember your loved ones with great memories of all the times spent on the holidays. Those memories are precious and I am so happy to have them.

I do not have as many memories of time spent with Andrea, but I assure you that all of the ones I have are held in high regard. Christmas was a special time for Andrea. Welcoming the season of Advent was important to her as a person. Ushering in the meaning of Christ's birth and presence in this world was something she continued throughout the year. I did not always agree with her, but we agreed one hundred percent on God's love for us and the grace of forgiveness and compassion.

Outside of Christmas, I have been extremely busy. I am volunteering with the Alabama SHIP program with the Area Agency on Aging. I am busy doing Medicare counseling with people who need to evaluate their Medicare coverage, or for people who are new to Medicare. I have learned so much about Medicare and have a new appreciation for what it means to have this invaluable program for our society. I know some people will laugh at that statement and rant on about government health care, but without it our senior citizens would be in a heck of a lot of trouble. Not to mention those on disability. It is not perfect, and could use some changes here and there; but it fills such an important gap in our social fabric.

I hope that you all have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year! I hope your holiday season is filled with joy and celebration with family!

Peace,
Josh
