My surgeons office called this morning and now everything is being pushed back an extra week. Apparently the doctor will not schedule a surgery on rectal cancer patients until there is a barium enema completed (yippee!!). I had one early on in the process prior to radiation and they really suck. Not painful, but there is a butt-plug involved (ha ha). Anyway, the enema will give a good diagnosis of the surrounding area of where the cancer was removed and whether or not there are any leaks or if the cancer has started to regenerate in the same area. I think the leakage is the higher of the two probabilities. The CT-Scan will let us know if the cancer has spread to any surround organs.
Oh well...I guess I get one more week of anxiety. It is really driving me crazy and now I have to figure out how to keep myself busy for an extra week while I wait.
