Stand Up To Cancer

SU2C

Thought I would post about the Stand Up To Cancer stuff happening tomorrow on most local television stations. This is a great opportunity for people to realize how we are all touched by this disease in some way, be it directly in our own battle with the disease or indirectly in our relationships with family or friends who have been affected by cancer. Take time to visit the Stand Up To Cancer website and peruse their various links. There is a particular link that I would like to call your attention which is located here.

Write Your Representative

This provides you a form to write your respective congressmen/congresswomen or senators. There is also a link on that page which provides you with contact information for your representatives. Also, don't forget about state legislators and local representatives. These community leaders may not have the power to address federal monies, but they do have some say in local policies related to public health.

Many may not realize how much funding has been reduced across the board by the National Institutes of Health, but it has occurring at an alarming rate. It does not just affect cancer research, but encompasses research in various branches of science in general. Please take the time to learn more about this and other issues related to cancer prevention, treatments, and research. It may actually save your life one day!

Peace
Josh

Happy Birthday to Me...

Hello everyone,
We have had an enjoyable Labor Day/Kimberly's Birthday weekend. I was off work Friday and today, of course. Friday night Josh took me out to dinner at GianMarco's. Then Saturday night Savannah and David and Savannah's grandfather came over for dinner and to watch football. Roll Tide, War Eagle.... and to you MSU fans out there... ouch. Better luck next week. Then Sunday Savannah took us to brunch at Veranda on Highland, where I had delicious duck and waffles. Here's a group shot of us:

Here's Savannah and I:

And here's Josh and Savannah and David's miniature dachsund, Mischa:

This morning I went shopping with my birthday money and got a purse, then Josh and I went to see Tropic Thunder. It's hilarious. Now, in about 2 hours, I'll be 29. Wow. Time to eat more birthday cake. :) It's been a good birthday weekend, I must say. Take care everyone--
