Well, I gathered all my clothes together that no longer fit. It turns out that it was much of my wardrobe. I have never been one for fashion, but there are some really nice clothes that no longer fit me. We normally go through our clothes once a year for our yearly donation to goodwill, but this year I have alot more to donate. Sure, I am keeping the size 36's just in case I gain weight again, but I hope that my health will dictate to me that the size 42's and above are no longer needed! Yes, I hope to indulge in some onion rings and ice cream soon, but I am afraid that my body (intestines) and I are going to make a new agreement after surgery. It appears that they have the leverage this go around and I am not much for facing the consequences of negotiation.
Today is the day that I pick up my suit. We are getting ready for Savannah and David's wedding in Athens and I am looking forward to a nice getaway before surgery. Honestly, I am realizing that the surgery is going to be the most difficult for Kimberly. Heck, I am going to be knocked out and unaware of time or space. The good thing being that Kimberly will be surrounded with a strong support system the day of surgery and hopefully the time will go by quickly. Kimberly will be posting to the blog post surgery. We are not sure about computer access just yet, but she will get to it somehow.
I think that the most dreadful part of this process will be the no eating. The single most frustrating thing for me with colorectal cancer has been the preparation that must be done for tests and procedures. It is usually a combination of no eating for at least 12 hours and either medication or enema. Then to top it off, something usually is going up my ass shortly thereafter. The whip cream for the surgery is that once the procedure is over, I will still not be able to eat. It appears that they will slowly introduce food to my diet, starting with ice chips. Hooray! Hooray! Ice chips!!! Maybe tomorrow you can have some broth. Sigh!
Well, if I do not post prior to leaving on Friday morning, then look for a post on Sunday or Monday about the weekend. I will have some pictures of the festivities. Take care and hope to talk with everyone soon!
